Lawmaker is Author of Mandate Requiring National Broadband Plan
MARCH 16, 2010
Representative Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.), author
of the requirement in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act that
directed the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to develop a
National Broadband Plan, today issued the following statement on the
release of the plan:
“The National Broadband Plan will help keep America connected and
competitive for generations to come and will unleash a tidal wave of
investment and innovation,” said Markey.

The NY Times: Markey Fights for Clean Energy Jobs |

Democrats will turn the focus to energy efficiency standards and
incentive programs this week with hearings in the Senate and House
energy panels.
Rep. Ed Markey, chairman of the House Energy and the Environment
Subcommittee, has been a major advocate of "clean energy" jobs and made
several speeches last week touting the potential for jobs in the energy
efficiency and renewable energy sector.

Congressman Edward J. Markey, chairman of the Energy and Environment
Subcommittee and the author of a bill to establish a federal ban on the
chemical Bisphenol A (BPA) in all food and beverage containers, today
hailed Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick’s announcement that he has
directed the Department of Public Health to take steps to impose a
limited ban on BPA.
